25 Weeks and Counting

Last Friday marked 25 weeks of pregnancy. It has been long and feels never ending, but the end is near, there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel! I have approximately 14 weeks until we become a family of 4. Dr. Gowen said that we would schedule my c-section sometime between 1-2 weeks out, so I figure the latest will be May 31.
I had another doctors appointment last Thursday. I had to do my 1 hour glucose to test for gestational diabetes and, unfortunately, I was a few points to high, meaning I will have to go back for a 3 hours screening to really test for diabetes. Thankfully Dr. Gowen thinks that I have a very low chance of actually having diabetes, so I have to go in tomorrow to do the 1 hour test. I mentioned that I may have been sugared out since we had both Adelyn's and Paul's birthdays plus Valentine's day and a housewarming party all within the last month. Hopefully all will turn out well tomorrow!
In the meantime, I have gained 7lbs total (6 in 1 month) thus far. And I finally look pregnant (although I still just feel fat), though my friends dont believe I am 6months along.

3 yrs old

Last week our not-so-baby baby girl turned 3!! It is hard to imagine that three short years ago we were bringing Adelyn home from the hospital, completely unaware of what was to come. She has turned into a bright, mostly outgoing, sweet, beautiful little princess who knows EXACTLY what she wants. She turns more and more into a little girl every day. She says and does things daily that make me laugh out loud.
We had a wonderful birthday party last weekend and a fun birth-week celebration! Needless to say we are looking forward to the next year-- she is going to be such an amazing big sister!

Happy New Year!!

So I realize it has been a long, LONG time since I last posted, but in my defense, we have had a LOT going on!! I will try to summarize as best as I can and promise to do better in the new year :)
I had a wonderful birthday (12.7), very low key. My parents came to town so that dad and I were able to celebrate together. Adelyn was a huge help opening presents :) The next couple of weeks were very hectic getting ready for Christmas (which already seems like sooo long ago) and trying to close on a house and pack. We ended up closing on Friday 12.21 around 430. We turned around and drove to my parents place for a fun weekend before Christmas. While stressful trying to close and go out of town on the same day, I am very glad we did. We found out that evening that my grandmother had passed away (mom's mom). To be completely selfish, it was the worst time ever for something like this to happen. I was an emotional roller coaster--- Christmas. Moving into a new house. Having to get the old house ready to be rented so that we are not paying for two mortgages by Feb. All on top of being pregnant. I know that grandmom is no longer in pain, which is very comforting to know. Through all of this, Christmas didnt really feel like it even happened. To me at least. Adelyn thoroughly enjoyed herself and loved every second of it. She got a haul and a half from Santa, family and friends. Once I get everything unpacked I promise to put a montage of photos uploaded. The funeral was Friday in Orlando so Paul's parents stayed with Adelyn while he and I drove down Thursday night. It was good to see family, despite the sad circumstances. We celebrated a wonderful life, lived to the fullest. Paul drove home Friday after the service, I stayed and drove home Saturday. The next few weeks pretty much consisted of us packing and moving. We spend our first official night in the house last Saturday. Paul's birthday was Friday and all he really wanted to do was hang out and grill at home, which we did. Saturday we moved the final things out of our old place AND had tenants sign a lease. YAY!!!! I feel as if a huge boulder has been lifted off my shoulders. Yeehaw! We are celebrating both the new house and Paul's birthday this weekend with an oyster roast. If you live in the area, stop by :)
Oh, more news.... I have had a couple of doctor appointments since my last post as well! Both mommy and baby seem to be doing quite well. I am starting to show a bit (again, I will start taking pictures). I had a visit on Thursday, where Paul got an early bday present. We found out Adelyn will have a little sister. Yup, another girl! I gained 3lbs between this visit and last, but have only gained 1lb overall.... I am just over 20 weeks. It is crazy to believe that I am already over half way through with this pregnancy. Only thing I have to do now is decide how to decorate the nursery..... all ideas welcome!
Sorry for the super duper long post. Like I said, I will do better now! And will update with pictures soon.

Big News.....

It is official! Adelyn is going to be a big sister on or around June 7, 2012.

As of today I am 12w3d pregnant. This has already been a completely different pregnancy than I had with Adelyn. Until a week and a half ago or so, I was unable to keep virtually anything down. Now it comes and goes, which is better. I have actually lost 2lbs since I first found out I was pregnant.
I have had two ultrasounds thus far. The most recent to determine the chance for down-syndrome and other chromosomal diseases. My results came back perfectly normal, which is good news :) Baby's heartbeat was 162bpm which is very healthy and strong. My next appointment is December 20. I will have a bunch of blood work and other fun stuff and then we will find out the gender around Paul's birthday in mid-January.
The problem with the first trimester ending and Thanksgiving coinciding the same time is that I cannot tell if this new pooch is Thanksgiving fattiness or baby bump. Either way, I am not a fan! And if it is a baby bump, this is WAY earlier than I did with Adelyn.
So, that is our big news of the year, for now :)

Happy Halloween

Adelyn has been looking forward to Halloween for FOREVER. Mostly because I told her she was not allowed to wear her princess dress before hand because I was scared she would mess it up. Wednesday was a beautiful day. We dressed in the first of two princess dresses, and went to the library for story time. All of the businesses downtown were doing trick-or-treating for the little ones. After story time, Adelyn and I took off down the streets to practice saying 'trick-or-treat'. She was very excited with each piece of candy received and told me every time more candy got added to her basket. After we went up and down the entire 8 blocks, we reluctantly went back home to rest up before the big event that evening.
We went out with friends to a neighborhood off island. We walked the whole night, and I was convinced that about half way through Adelyn would start to get fussy and want to be carried---- I was WRONG. She ran from house to house asking for more candy, saying thank you, telling us that she got more candy. We ended up with two baskets of candy (much to Paul's delight)! We could not get Miss A to stay still long enough to get too many decent pictures, so you will have to make due :)

Trip to the Okefenokee

A couple of weekends ago we went on a fun weekend trip to the Okefenokee Swamp with Papee, Gram, and Aunt Anna. We stayed in a quaint two bedroom cabin in Stephen Foster State Park. We got in Friday night, enjoyed dinner, found frogs, listened to owls, ran around and then crashed. Saturday we rented a john boat and got out for a fun-filled day on the swamp. We saw turtles, alligators, birds and all kinds of plant life. Adelyn enjoyed every minute of it. We came in for a brief nap that afternoon and then went back out that evening for a sunset booze cruise. It was a very fun weekend and we cant wait to go back again soon!
