4 month check-up

Adelyn had her 4 month check-up today, she is a big girl!

  • 26 in (95%)
  • 15.15 lbs (90%)
She has grown 2.25 in and 3.8 lbs in a 2 month time period. I knew she has been growing like a weed, but I certainly did not realize she has grown that much. What can I say, she eats well! She also got her second round of vaccines (Rotavirus, DTaP, Polio and Pneumococcal). She took them like a champ. Only cried for a few seconds, which I am sure, is much better than I ever did.

We also talked about starting her on solid food (eek!). We can begin feeding her rice cereal whenever we want and as soon as she gets proficient at eating from a spoon we can begin feeding her stage 1 veggies and fruits. I have decided that I want to make all (or as many as I can) of her foods myself. I have received a great recommendation for Top 100 Baby Purees, which I will be using for the next 8 or so months. I hope that she has a better palate than I and is much less picky! We will see. I know it will be fun exploring new foods with her.

At 4 months she is able to do so much, it seems like she is changing daily. What can she do you ask?

  • Bring both hands together, and inevitably into her mouth
  • Grab anything within reach, and, again, into her mouth it goes
  • So close to rolling over from back to front- she gets all the way on her side and then stops. I know it will happen soon.
  • Stands, with support from mommy or daddy of course.
  • She is sleeping 10-12 hours every night
  • Laughs, squeals, giggles, talks, exploring her voice with different noises daily

We love spending time with her and are anxious to see what she will do next.

Heat Wave!

Man, it is HOT! We do not do a lot outside unless it is later in the evening these days. Temperatures reaching 100 degrees in mid-June do not bode well for a relaxing July-August, which is why I am so excited to have booked tickets to Boston to visit Aunt Bec and Aunt Kelly, Justin and Jack! Hopefully it will be a little cooler there in August. It is too hot to go to the beach during the middle of the day, but we have gone the past couple of evenings, just before bed/bath time!
Even though our month of weddings is over, we seem to be keeping ourselves busy over the weekends. The past couple, we have gone down to Jacksonville to spend time with some friends and their children. This weekend I am helping to throw a baby shower in Kingsland for some friends. I dont think we will have 'nothing' to do on a weekend until post-July 10th.

Adelyn will be 4 months old this Saturday. I cant believe it! She is getting so big, I will be anxious to see how much she has grown these past 2 months. She loves her fingers, eating them, that is, as well as anything else within grasp of her hands. She is 'talking' all the time now. She loves 'standing' on one of us, and I am fairly certain she will start rolling from her back to stomach soon. She gets on to her side and then kind of stops before going one more inch. We will talk to the dr next week about starting her on solids as well. We are loving every minute with her and cant wait to see what she will do next!

Here are some pictures to tide you over until next time :)

Lots Going On!

Sorry I have been so horrible with updating the blog, but we have been a very busy family of late! Since the last post, Paul and I had two more weddings each of the last two weekends in May. I, unfortunately, broke my foot at the first of the two.

The first weekend was spent at my parents house- we had our first trip to the pool!

Memorial Day was spent in Charlotte with Paul's sister, Aunt Kati. Nana, Pop-Pop, Aunt Wheezy and Uncle Geoff also came to play.

We are looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend AT HOME!
