6 month stats

We officially have our first illness. Adelyn came down with a cough yesterday and it has gotten slightly worse today, in addition to the congestion, runny nose, etc that a common cold entails. That, with her normal round of vaccines, has made our normally bubbly girl a little cranky today. Poor kid. We, do, however, have a big, healthy, growing baby girl on our hands!
  • 27.25in (90-95%)
  • 18.8 lbs (80-90%)

Dr. Thompson is very happy with her growth chart. He also said that it is time to start feeding her solids twice/day since she seems to be taking to them so well. One when she wakes up, before nursing, and the other at our regular time before her bath. This is to get her used to not needing to nurse as soon as she gets up and will eventually make it easier to ween her. That is all for now...

6 months

Where has this year gone? How is Adelyn already 6 months old? Hard to believe! What can she do at 6mo you ask?

  • she is a rolling over pro! Once she learned how, she hasnt stopped. She even does it in her sleep- most mornings we find her on her tummy.
  • sit up.
  • grab anything and everything within reach, dropped items, even some items out of reach
  • she is trying to crawl. she scoots back and forth, but hasnt quite gotten up on all 4s just yet.
  • Says ba-ba-ba.
  • Kisses. She gives sweet kisses, which sometimes results in hickeys for mommy.
  • she is an eating champ! We have given her pears, apples, carrots, sweet potatoes, bananas, mangos, and broccoli so far. The only thing she refuses to eat is bananas. She is not a fan of broccoli alone, so we generally mix it with sweet potatoes or carrots. I made her peas yesterday and we will try those tonight.

We are loving our little foodie and cant believe how big she is getting! We go to the dr. next friday for our 6 mo check up. Bets on how big she will be? Until then...

Boston

Adelyn and I went to Boston over the weekend to visit with Aunt Rebecca and to meet Kelly, Justin and Jack. We had a flight out early Friday morning and landed in Beantown a little before noon, with a layover in DC. Paul and I were both a little anxious as I left since it was the first time we were flying and we had a layover and he wasnt with us. Adelyn did fantastic, though. She flew like a pro! She didnt cry on any of the flights- take off or landing. It made it a LOT easier for me!
We had our plans all worked out and ended up having to scramble a bit Thursday because Jack ended up coming down with the chicken pox. He was given a live virus vaccine at his 12mo checkup, and somehow he was one of the 0.05% of children who get chicken pox from the vaccine. Poor kid, cant catch a break!. After talking to some pediatrician friends, we learned that since it was such a weakened form of the virus he was given, he probably wasnt contagious anyways; however, we didnt want to take any chances. We decided that it would be better to stay with Aunt Bec Friday and Saturday nights and Kelly on Sunday, just to be safe. I think that ended up working out much better anyways, because Jack and Adelyn are on much different schedules!
We walked around Rebecca's part of town Friday afternoon, and Saturday we met up with Kelly and Jack and walked all over downtown Boston. Jack, a champion walker, could not understand why he couldnt get out and walk around. Adelyn went down for her nap as we entered into the public garden and Jack was able to get out and run around, chase birds, enjoy life in general. It was pretty funny- that boy can move! It was a fun, but exhausting day, for all involved. Sunday was spent at Kelly, Justin and Jack's house in Southborough. We sandboxed, swung, napped, played. Another fun day.
Unfortunately our trip had to come to an end. We had a lot of fun exploring a great city with family and friends, but are glad to be getting back into a normal routine.
