Slacking a bit?

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and is gearing up for a happy new year as well! We spent our holiday in Canton, GA with Paul's family; but not before doing a Moerman family Christmas here, friday morning, followed by a mini-Laws family Christmas friday afternoon, before jetting off to Canton. Adelyn loved every second of it! She definitely knows how to unwrap a present :) We loved being able to spend so much time with family and are very thankful for everything we received! We had a lot of fun, so much so, Adelyn decided to stay in Canton with Nana and PopPop and her cousins, Alix and Clare for the week. Paul and I are leaving today for Charlotte, where we will be spending NYE with his siblings. The whole crew from Canton will also be meeting us there so that we can have a proper new years day feast!
I realized that I havent posted ANY photos since Thanksgiving, so here is a small photo montage for you:

Adelyn These Days

I haven't done a 'what's Adelyn up to?' post in a while, and she has definitely picked up some new things lately. Here goes....
  • vocabulary: it is expanding daily! Here are some new(er) words she says- kitty, dog, frog, cow, sky, out/inside, hair, head, ear, eye, cheek, mouth, jacket, duck, nap, night, sky. I am certain there are more, but I really cannot think of them off the top of my head.
  • language: she is learning spanish and english at school and often times when asked a question at home she replies with a 'si (yes)' or an 'aqui (here)'. Last night during bathtime she took a poop in the tub (gross, I realize). Paul got her out of the tub and we pointed and said, 'Adelyn, did you go stinky stinky in the bath', she got a huge grin on her face and said, 'SI'.
  • Animals: as mentioned above, she is able to say most animals when asked. Chick-fil-a sponsors many shows on PBS and when the cow comes on the TV during the commercials she points and says "COW" over and over until you acknowledge that she did, in fact, see a cow. She is also infatuated with frogs- we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom on Sunday and in one of their exhibits there was a large African Bullfrog, I tried to get a picture of the largest grin that spread across her face when she saw it. And, when asked what said animals say, she usually responds with a correct answer - moo, eeoww (meow), bbit (ribbit), cack (quack), oof (woof)
  • She is also able to remove her diaper- something I am not remotely excited about when the time for potty training arrives.
  • Tantrums- she has reached the inevitable stage of tantrum throwing. Most of the time I laugh when she flings herself to the ground in a fit of rage, I know I shouldn't, but its funny. I usually just let her cry it out and she forgets what she is upset about after a couple of minutes. Hopefully it won't get any worse :)
I think thats all from our budding naturalist. NOTHING is safe anymore. She gets into everything imaginable. And her memory is getting better by the day.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving spent on Pine Island with EVERYONE from the Laws crew- all 24 of us! We cooked, ate and laughed a lot. Unfortunately, Paul had to work Friday so after breakfast with his parents, he took off to Jacksonville for the day. Adelyn and I stayed an hung out with them for a bit more since we will not see them until Christmas. The rest of the day was spent being gluttonous at home. Saturday my parents took us to Sapelo Island for the morning tour. It has been a while since Paul and I have been over there- it was a lot of fun. As you can imagine, Adelyn ran all over the place and had a few sandspur incidents. That afternoon, while Adelyn was down for her 4 hour nap, Paul and I took the canoe around my parents' property. He was able to understand the layout a bit better and now he knows exactly where all of the good 'honey holes' are. All in all it was a wonderful time and we thoroughly appreciate everyone who helped to make it so special, but it has been nice to get back into our own little routine :)

random pictures.

My blog has had issues allowing me to post lately so I have broken my post from Disney and this one into two separate posts, hoping it will be a bit more cooperative. Here are some additional phots that I have just uploaded to the computer from our camera....

Disney.... Again!

Adelyn and I were fortunate enough to go back down to Disney World this past Friday with Anna Valent, a friend of mine from high school who lives in Jacksonville and her two little ones. Paul and I decided that since we lived so close, it made more economical sense to purchase a seasonal pass, which is only available to FL residents. We are allowed into the park through out the year with a few exceptions- Easter week, the middle of summer, and two weeks over Christmas/New Years. All times we would never choose to go anyways due to crowds and heat. The 5 of us trucked down for the day and had a lot of fun. Instead of being overwhelmed, which she was the first time she went, Adelyn charged ahead knowing exactly what to do. She and Riley were too cute together and I know they had a fun day. We are excited to go again soon!

First Dentist Visit

Today I took Adelyn to her first dentist appointment. She was SUCH a big girl! She had so much fun playing with all the toys in the waiting room, she did not want to go back to get her teeth cleaned. I held her on my lap while she laid back on the knees of the tech while her teeth were being brushed and flourided :) She has great teeth, for the most part. She has a bit of an over bite and will most likely require braces (thanks mom....) and she has an extra baby tooth. It is some what common and does not mean that she will an extra adult tooth, but we will find that out when she has x-rays when she is 5. No need to worry about that now! Other than that we have a healthy baby girl who likes to brush her teeth! She was more excited about the new toothbrush she got to bring home than the stickers and toy she got to pick out...

Halloween 2011

Happy Halloween from the Moermans! We went trick-or-treating last night with some friends- Adelyn LOVED it! It definitely did not take her very long to get the hang of the whole idea. By the end of the evening she was running from house to house grabbing as much candy from each bowl as possible and throwing it in her bag- all with a huge grin and a big 'BYE' after each one. Here are a few pictures.....

Adelyn These Days

Adelyn will be 20 months on Wednesday. She seems to be growing each day, more with things she can say and do than height and weight :)

  • She can now say (at least what I understand her to say): Daddy, night night, shoe, shell, thank you, hi, bye. I am certain there are more, but for some reason as I am writing, I cannot think of them!

  • She is able to go down the stairs (almost) by herself. Nana taught her to sit on her bum and scooch down one step at a time, she is doing so well at it!

  • She understands everything, now. There is very little we can slide past her!

  • She has entered a minor phase of the terrible two's... when something does not go her way, she lets you know how she feels about it, LOUDLY.

  • When at the play ground, she can go down the slide by herself. I guess she learned how to sit at the top of the slide and pull herself forward to go down while at daycare.

I am sure there are other new things she is doing, but again, i have no idea what since I see her on a daily basis :) Below are some pictures we have taken around town since we got our camera fixed!

We went to the 'pumpkin patch' to pick out a pumpkin for carving. Adelyn found these small ones and decided she would line them up, one by one.

Still the best $10 ever spent :)
