Allergies, plus some stuff...

We took Adelyn, yet again, to see Dr. Thompson yesterday because of a persistent cough, runny nose and drainage from the eyes. She had similar symptoms, minus the spiked fever, in January. Both times, there was a little fluid build up in the ears and the eardrums looked as if they had been suctioned back into the ear canal. Apparently it is not a painful thing, just uncomfortable because of the pressure. Dr. Thompson decided that Adelyn had really bad allergies since there wasnt any kind of infection, just a lot of swelling from congestion. He sent us on our way with yet another prescription for Amoxicillan and a prescription for Flonase, which we are to give her once/day until summer. Hopefully this will help!

We had our first true beach weekend last weekend, it was so much fun! Pictures are below.... We certainly have a beach babe on our hands!

Playing in my own little pool
'What do you mean I am too young to play lacrosse?'
Sunday marked one month since we had to put Buck down. I am not certain what I expected, but I am amazed at Adelyn's memory. Every morning she asks for Daddy, I had been saying 'Daddy is at work'. She then followed that by 'where Buck', I responded with a 'We had to say bye bye to Buck, he was really sick'. Now she says, 'daddy work?'. Yes Adelyn, daddy is at work. 'bbye bbye buck?', that's right, we had to say bye bye to Buck. "Buck really sick. really really sick". Thats right! We had to say bye bye because Buck was really sick. Anytime we are at my parents place, she remembers right where we buried Buck and she waves to him and says 'BYE BUCK'! I imagine as she gets older, the memory of Buck will fade, but it is nice to know that anytime his name is mentioned (usually around dinner time, in the context that he is missing out on a lot of dropped food), she says, 'bye buck. really sick'.

Here are a few more pictures from weekends past....

Excited to go on a hike
'Daddy, leaf!'
Some kind of super cute baby mammal we found in a hollowed out tree trunk
The Bed! She is very excited to climb in and OUT all by herself now!

Our Big Girl

Saturday we put the toddler rails on Adelyn's bed, I tried to get her to practice climbing in and out but she wanted no part of it, as she must have thought that it meant nap time and she was clearly not ready for that. She still refuses to climb out on her own and calls for mommy or daddy to come get her out of bed when she is ready. I am okay with this! I did watch her grab a book from the floor this morning and say 'I got it', as she pulled the top half of her body back in bed to read. One step at a time :)
On another note, Adelyn's new thing is to say 'What's That?' after every.single.noise. It is cute, but it gets very old very quickly, especially when its the same noise over and over again (motorcycles driving by, music on the tv, the dryer, the cardinal banging on the bedroom window, etc). I love that she is trying to learn about her surroundings and knows that mommy or daddy (or some other adult) should know what she is hearing. Other than that, her vocabulary is still expanding daily.
I asked her if she wanted to go to the park this morning while eating breakfast, she responded, 'NOoooooo, Beeach!'. I think that Paul and I are going to have to set up camp for her to pass out on the beach this summer for brief naps.

Toddler Rails Have Arrived

.... we got them in the mail today and will most likely transition her to the 'big girl' bed this weekend. Adelyn and I are headed to Disney/Orlando tomorrow with Aunt Anna and Gram, we will spend tomorrow at the Magic Kingsom, stay the night down there and visit with great-grandmom (G.G) Thursday morning before heading home. Pictures and more updates to follow...
