Adelyn These Days

She is getting bigger by the second, I swear. Adelyn is repeating virtually every word or phrase Paul and I say now, so we have to be extra careful because she seems to have a memory like an elephant! We tried to put her in big girl panties and potty train Mother's Day weekend, while Pauls parents were in town. It became quite obvious that she is close to being ready but not quite there. She knows when she needs to go to the potty, but either wont sit long enough or just refuses to sit at all. I figure in another few weeks we will make a go at it again. I dont want to make the potty something she fears! She has gotten superb at the alphabet. She can point out and tell you every letter and several mornings she has woken us up singing her ABCs. I am not 100% certain, but I really feel as if she is going to be a lefty. While sometimes she will eat or color with her right hand, the majority of the time she uses her left. Adelyn also LOVES reading. She gets on kicks with her favorite books and will take them to bed with her so that she can read them before going down or after she wakes up. It is cute to hear her, because I know exactly which part of what book she is on based on the noises coming from her room. She is also very into Mickey Mouse now. One weekend I was away Paul put on Disney Jr and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse came on- needless to say, that is the only show she requests to watch any more. I hear 'now i know my ABCs next time wont you sing with me' coming from the room, so I will go check in on our little brainiac :)

Happy May~

We had so much fun last weekend (pictures to follow, I promise!). We went to Savannah for my cousin's wedding. We were lucky to have all of Adelyn's aunts and uncle, on the Laws side in attendance! We were also able to celebrate Aunt Rebecca's birthday with a nice brunch on Saturday morning. I knew that Adelyn would have fun at the reception, but I did not realize just how much fun. Once we got some food in her, and the band picked up, she did not sit down. She danced and ran around the room for the entire evening- stopping only to grab a bite or two of cake or to tell Paul or I 'again' each time the music stopped. After the 2nd set break (around 915), we begrudgingly brought her back to the room so she could crash with my parents. Apparently she was so wound up, she did not actually go to bed until around 1030 or so.
In other Adelyn news, she is becoming more adept at using the potty. Last night, for example, she wanted to sit on the potty before I put her diaper on after her bath. I was not sure if she just wanted to play or if she actually needed to go, but after about 10-15min, she stood up, very proud of herself, and looked in the potty to make sure she had gone. Paul and I did a little potty dance and she was excited. Hopefully we are on the right track here....
She has also been talking. A lot. Every word I say, she repeats. She is learning new words daily, it amazes me how much she is able to absorb. She is able to look at words she has never seen and tell me each letter in the word. She is counting (although sometimes I think she skips 4-6). If it wasn't apparent before, it is very apparent now- Adelyn is a girl who knows what she wants, and wants it when she wants it :)
I am leaving tomorrow for a friend's Bat Mitzvah in Palm Beach, so Paul and Adelyn will be able to spend some quality time with Nana and PopPop, who will be driving down to spend mother's day weekend at the beach.
Until next time....
