The Countdown Is On

As of today, Adelyn is 11 months and 1 week old.... I can't believe her first birthday is literally right around the corner. It makes me sad to think that in a few short weeks my baby girl will no longer be a 'baby'. I look at her and think of her as a 5-6 month old just learning how to sit up by herself, she is most definitely WAY beyond that point, though!

  • she is an expert crawler now. You turn your head for 2.2 seconds and she is gone. She loves going into any room with an open door and opening and closing the door (while sitting). There is the problem when she accidentally closes herself in. Poor Buck isnt getting nearly the amount of sleep he used to either- she is always all over him- pulling at his ears, standing up and jumping on him. It is pretty funny.
  • pulling up. she can pull up on anything, anywhere. Doors, tables, rocking chairs, refrigerators, anything....
  • cruising. she isnt standing or walking alone (thankfully), but she cruises on her crib, the couch and toys that she recieved for Christmas. She is getting quite good at it.

Anyways, we are going to enjoy these last few weeks before the toddler age begins to kick in.

Playing on the swing from Santa

She found her Duke paci the other week and now she loves to chew on it while she is crawling and playing.

What do you mean I am not supposed to get IN the toy box?

Playing with the buttons on the wine cooler.

Piglet!

I say this with love, because I also love to eat, so I know where she gets it from... but Adelyn is a PIG! She LOVES to eat! It is fantastic. To give you a small idea of what I mean, here is a little story from dinner with some friends last Saturday night.
I will preface by saying that Adelyn had a TON of fun playing with Eric and Marie's 5 year old son, James, she followed him all over the house- i dont know that she ever stopped moving. She did work up an appetite. Anyways, at the end of the meal Marie says to Eric, "James ate 4 shrimp (they were big, fresh off the boat shrimp), good for him!" Eric replies, "Well, normally I would be proud of him except that I just witnessed a 10 month old eat the exact same thing." I didnt want to mention that in addition to the 4 shrimp she ate, she also had:

  • several bites of my baked potato
  • 2 triscuits
  • 3 grapes
  • the 4oz of sweet potato and squash puree I had prepared for her dinner earlier

That tends to be a typical night nowadays. Especially when we go out to dinner. She generally eats more off of my plate than I do... it helps me from gorging myself, which is nice!
Here are a few pictures, enjoy!

Happy 2011

We rung in the new year with a wonderful weekend on Sea Island with family and friends. It was just what we needed- low key and fun! While Adelyn slept, Paul and I, along with several other family members, had a fun-filled Friday night at the Cloister hotel where we listened to good music, watched fireworks, and had an overall good time. Saturday was spent mostly on the beach- once the fog cleared out, it was a beautiful day!
Happy 2011 everyone! We are looking forward to a wonderful year...

Aunt Anna and her friends celebrated on Sea Island as well

Hanging out with Nana

The beach is SO much fun!

A low country boil + collards and black-eyed peas= a great New Years dinner!
